Who can help on the sirat?

Allah does not abandon the sinners on the sirat that leads to paradise. Due to His abundant mercy, He allows for intercession (shafa‘ah) to take place. This intercession is helpful to those who are finding the path exhausting and difficult, or have slipped into the fire.

The root of the word shafa‘ah means to pair or couple with something else. This means that in order to qualify for this form of mercy, one must have some sort of a connection or relationship with the personality that is interceding. The stronger this bond, the faster one can receive shafa‘ah. Forming this connection or bond must be done in this world.
