Each lesson includes a list of learning objectives to which both teacher and student can refer, to ensure that the underlying message is being successfully communicated. As the children work their way through the lesson with the teacher determining the pace, opportunities for reflection are presented for teachers to use as a basis for further discussion and engagement with students. The teacher is encouraged to tailor such discussions around the interests and level of understanding of their students. Furthermore, students are provided with ideas of how they can apply the learning from the lesson in their daily life.
As the lesson draws towards its end, the key points are summarised so both the student and teacher can ensure that the objectives for each lesson have been clearly understood. A lesson review at the conclusion provides an opportunity to reiterate the main topics through a series of questions designed to test students’ understanding and retention of what they have learnt.
Teachers are also provided with teaching guides and other resources to complement the lessons.
